That's really up to what you think they're worth. Personally I don't pay over $50 and it has to be in good (or easily fixable) condition.

Prices are always subject to location, condition, and availability. There is no set price.

I've paid anywhere from $0 to $90 for older PC cases, with one exception when I spent I think around $150 on a NOS one, because it's the exact same case I had for my most memorable PC build and I wanted to recreate it and those cases are very hard to find. It's a seller's market for those things, so you'll just have to be patient for a good deal or just pony up when you find something you want.

The best deal I ever got was a local guy who wanted to offload his whole collection of old PCs, and I got them all, like 8 or 9 complete PCs, for $60 total, and I think 4 or 5 of those were older beige cases, slot 1 PCs.

Is really is a huge range for AT cases. Just have to keep an eye out and maybe a cheap or free one will pop up.

Lately I have seen cases by themselves being priced as much as or more than whole computers in AT cases.

I think it depends on three main factors.

1) How close is it to your ideal case for the build
2) What condition is it in (does it need any work to make it acceptable)
3) What can you afford

For AT cases, I've never had to pay more than £40, and I have a selection to work with. For ATX, the most I ever paid was in the region of £450 for a Little Devil (massive case). Most that didn't come for free were under£60. When I buy my next case, the number of internal 3.5 drive bays will be important, as will the presence of two 5.25 external bays, and I haven't yet decided what silly money I'll pay. It will also need to be suitable for a WC loop and several fan/radiator bays. So I know it won't be cheap (and for most of my collection, I'm a confirmed skinflint, but this system will be my daily driver for at least 10 years - probably won't be able to afford a decent upgrade when I hit pension age soon)

Depends whether the case is with power supply or not. AT cases hopefully will come with a working power supply. Can be EUR 50 then.
ATX cases often come without power supply. Should be 20-30 EUR then if they are old.
Don't buy a case with custom layout that will cause problems with standard components, like the cases from some brands.
