Is it allowed to sell services on this forum? First time I see a request for money for such a request. Also when I read crypto I always think it's shady but that's probably just me. 😀
Anyway maybe one of these bioses can help you: https://www.vgamuseum.info/index.php/cpu/item … 9468b7246e85327

Only allowing free services would mean fewer services are available, and less ability to influence the quality.
Closed report.
There is nothing wrong with charging for work performed. If anything there should be more of it, since people would then quantify their work and would likely help prevent burn out.

Just to be clear I didn't make a report but it's nice to have a clear answer about it.
But this means we can spam the forum with service offering topics and ask for a fee? And it should only concern software things as hardware is not allowed (see topic: VOGONS is no marketplace!)? What if the paid service is not satisfactory? Will Vogons meditate between the parties?
Personally I don't like paid service offerings on this forum and think it will create the same problems as selling hardware which is prohibited (for a good reason). But it would be nice to have some guidelines to what is and what is not allowed.

Communism has nothing to do here. Nobody asked you to do free labour.
Also, you are not obliged to work for free, this isn't a forced labour camp. Camps that belong to many ideologies.
Perfect capitalist companies will squeeze you like a lemon and even collect the pus out of you.
Making fremens look like nothing. 🤣
Start a legitimate business like northridgefix maybe.

This has to be addressed.
If you want business, just PM, like in many other places.
The beauty of this place is the collaborative effort to solve problems and find solutions, for free.

The issue with marketplaces was with places like eBay where products are sold, people have issues and then complain to vogons for facilitating. Charging or donating to people or projects for work performed is different.
Any type of issue that may occur will be handled as it comes up but most like the user will be directed to take it up with the person directly or take legal action themselves. Since extremely few people pay for software or donate I don't see it being a thing here.

I think it would be better if you (I mean the owners/admins) come back to this issue at a later time and post guidelines.
Personally I don't believe it'll come up again, I've never seen people ask for money before.
Work must be paid, that's a constant. That's not the issue here and not even ideologies, but the way the offer is presented.

That's a very capitalistic interpretation well good to know, I thought we were a community of retrohardware fans, I will feel entitled to ask for a small lumpsum everytime I will do anything in here since it's allowed.

How exactly is it different? What's the difference between accepting money for hardware and never shipping it out and accepting money for "services" and never delivering them?
The subject of this thread is "S3 Trio 3D/2X PCI Video BIOS".
Feel free to create another thread to discuss how people shouldn't be compensated for their work if they want to be.

I'm sorry, you missed our point entirely.
Read more carefully what we wrote. Our concern is people coming here and post their "paid for" services, while here we just help for free (or at least is what I saw so far); at the same time this isn't a marketplace (and it is enforced).
It's a basic contradiction: no money talks here, or not publicly at least, but now to propose paid services is admitted? Selling goods or a service is the same, it involves money.
And with money you can get all sorts of issues.
That's what we meant, not that one should work for free. Not the same.
------
Guess the OP didn't know that vga museum existed.
Also, one can just refuse the paid for offer.
What we all expected was to read something like "no money talks here".
