Hey friends, I want to get a single high quality CRT monitor for all my retro rigs (by way of a KVM VGA switch) but I have a need to handle both NTSC and PAL signals. I'm not sure where to begin - multisync? Multiscan? Are these just loaded terms or are they proprietary? Ideally I can find something in the 17" and up range (bigger is better!) so help is appreciated. Cheers.

While there are exceptions, a CRT monitor doesn't support NTSC or PAL, only a CRT TV will do that.

NTSC and PAL are television video signal formats.

If you want something like that, look for a euro SCART capable one. Those usually support a wide range of inputs, including RGB ones (like vga).

for example

Just be aware that its not gonna do very high res modes.

are you looking at TV's or Computer monitors? the 2 are very different things.

TV's were designed for standard definition TV broadcast quality which is much lower than computer standards. Even the more modern CRT TV's had very low resolutions compared to computer monitors.
Quite a lot of the later tv's supported both PAL and NTSC.

Computer monitors are capable of higher resolutions but finding anything above 17" will be hard and have never seen anything above 21"

Maybe you need a RCA/AV/VGA/S-Video to VGA converter?
