VOGONS

I have a situation that's been driving me crazy for several months now.

I have a list of old EA Sports games I'm trying to run (Rugby 08, FIFA 2002 to 2007, NBA Live 07 and 08).

These games, even with the help of dgVoodoo, take multiple attempts to boot. I either get instant CTDs or a black screen that won't do anything, and I have to force the programs to shut down.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10900 CPU @ 2.80GHz
RAM: 48 GB
O.S.: Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 24H2
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800, Adrenalin 25.3.1 (latest as of this post)

Check on the webpage PCgaming wiki and find your game there, there is usually good tips for issues on running those games on modern systems. I belived dgvoodoo is not working because this is like a emulator of glide api wrap that was used for the Voodoo cards, and those games your trying to play are released later than 2002, so by that time there was not to much options for glide wrap, developers worked more on directx or open gl api's.

For example check on this link https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/FIFA_Football_2002 there is a fix of crashing when cpu is over Ghz 2.5 were you use something called Sui's fix and will tell you how to do it. Also di you patch any of those games? That also help to run these games in modern systems.

I'd think it's disc protection than anything else. EA really loved SafeDisc and SecuROM and Windows 10/11 broke support for that.

I have seen this and used some fixes prior to opening this thread, but none of that worked, and that is why I'm here.

Yet some older games than these (FIFA 97 to 2001, and NBA Live 99, 2000 and 2001) do not seem to have any issues.

And what's stranger still, all of these games work on my NVIDIA Windows 11 laptop.

I don't know whether AMD or NVIDIA drivers have to do with this.

securom is not broken on windows 10/11, i have some original games with securom 4/5/7 protection on them and they load fine without using no cd with the disc in drive.

only safedisc and starforce drm that is broken.

Some games need additional dxwind fixes, for FIFA 2002 check this thread:

https://soccergaming.com/index.php?threads/tu … rdware.6465498/

Last week I fixed Formula Karts (1997) game incorrect speed using dxwing method described here:

https://sourceforge.net/p/dxwnd/discussion/ge … ead/34f2fdd70a/

Actually, reason why I still have dedicated old laptops for this games, to not waste time with this stupid patches.

Also even if MS broke SafeDisc or SecuROM it doesn't explain how it worked once in an often.

I've tried this, but no luck either.

Unless there's something severely wrong, it doesn't make sense. You can try contacting developers of one of the wrapper with logs, or analyse yourself if you can, to see where things turn upside down
