Is the PCMIDI interface for this card compatible with the daughter board from my original Orpheus I?

If you mean the mk8330 then the pcmidi addon is compatible
@keropi
Any idea on when we'll be able to buy the pcmidi addon again?

on next factory order that will happen after Easter we will also order a bunch of pcmidi addons, parts issues have been resolved and we are set for quite some time now 😀
the bad thing I start noticing - at least over at mouser - is that everything became more expensive in the last month or so, there are some parts that even doubled in price and there is no reasoning for it... I do not think this happens because of the so called tariffs - they are basically again on hold for now.
I am only mentioning this because we were hoping to bring down the price a little but now it seems that any savings made will just equalize the increased costs, so things will remain the same.
we have an ESFM playback showcase from pc-sound-legacy : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3eY2dLu3U8
I have to say that that ESFM tracks really sound great! too bad there were not more games taking advantage of it

I JUST saw the updated product page right before you posted this. I use a program that checks the product page every 5-hours for info updates, and just watched/listened to that video 2-3 minutes ago.
The card sounds very clean! The sound of these things is peak 90's, and perfect. Plus the lack of electrical noise, and new components on these new boards is great.

In this post Rincewind lists most of the officially supported games.
He also had some success with transplanting ESFM.MDI to other games which use the Miles Sound System. I haven't tried it myself, but he says that Discworld sounds pretty good with that.
I would say that this variant of the Doom soundtrack in FM with the guitar is the most "correct" to my ears. Very close to or the same as the original Yamaha OPL chip. I did notice that the cymbals do sound a bit different though, although not terrible by any means.

well that is the point of the soundcards we make, to get rid of the past deficiencies as much as possible 😁

added that bit of info on the site as well, thanks!

in some cases there is no difference than the yamaha part, in others it sounds better or worse 🤣 but to my ears ESFM is the most tolerable of the OPL "clones" out there

I see very heavy emphasis on black-yellow-gold look, but what in the God's name happened with jacks?
Did you two have creative argument and decided meet in the middle? So both color coded and metal one in final design...

🤣 what?
what is the issue exactly with the color coded jacks?

I'm half joking. 😀
Either all color coded or all fully metal was my thinking. I recall earlier you mentioned that final production version will be colorful plastic only.
Anyways mine will arrive hopefully soon. Colored or not...
Well these jacks only have this color ring and no colored body... Metal one is too different so good for midi jack 😁
I hope whatever the issue was that has held up the Australian bound packages gets resolved without much hassle.

Sorry, what issue is this? I have not received any communication about this.

Thank you for your patience 😊
The email that you had sent out never mentioned that I had to ask for a tracking number - the way that it is worded is that you'd send the tracking number after it has shipped. So what is going on here? It's been over two weeks since I paid.

maybe AU demands now something more than CN22 - this is still under investigation and we wait for answer from post
send me your name or email via PM and I will tell you the tracking number DEAT, everything is already shipped since last week
apparently the packages to AU were blocked by the export center because of "included batteries" and they are being sent back
this mess will be sorted out, still it is an added delay - someone in the post needs a slap or something :\
will update the affected people as things get more clear in the next couple of days
Where I live we really need to keep track of inbound packages, and once they arrive at our customs we need to link it with our taxpayer number, and after that they will calculate the 100% tax duty on it (it has always been like this, nothing to do with the current chaos caused by Mr. Orange).
If we don't do that, most likely they will return to sender (best outcome, and it can take a long time), or else.
In my specific case, the package had arrived at customs just a couple of days before I got my tracking number, now it is under customs analysis. It should take an additional 7-10 days to get it.
I think I got "Black Limited Edition" with black jumpers. Thanks Keropi 😀
Phil just released a video review of the MK1869. He covers the card in great detail, though I do have small note regarding his experiences when using the native AudioDrive mode in Tomb Raider and Descent.
As Phil correctly observed, digital audio becomes more filtered when using the AudioDrive mode in the aforementioned games. However, this issue only occurs in games which use the HMI Sound System (both Tomb Raider and Descent do) and is likely caused by a bug in HMI's own drivers. In contrast, if you select the native AudioDrive mode in games which use the Miles Sound System (e.g. Heroes of Might and Magic 2) you will get crystal clear 16-bit digital audio, with no excessive filtering. Just thought I'd clarify that.
