I think it survived, no magic smoke 😀

Thank goodness.

So did any of these 133mhz socket 7s ever have a functional AGP? Is there a mobo model to look for?

Quite often integrated graphics in a chipset are connected via the internal AGP or PCI bus. I think this is because this approach simplifies the integration of the graphics chip into the chipset. In this case, the pins on the AGP bus become busy and it becomes impossible to make a full-fledged AGP connector. This is most likely the situation with the last Super Socket 7 chipsets.

I'm attaching the latest PC Chips M586LMR AMI BIOS (010514S) from TRW site with almost all of its settings unlocked.

Thanks for posting this. Do you know if there is a similar suite of un-lockable settings for the SiS530? I saw on Jan's web site that he has a K6 patched bios for the Asus P5S-B. I was looking at one of these for sale, but I wonder if its bios will be too limited. I'm trying to find a K6 board that will work with later PCI or PCIX disk controllers.

Thanks for posting this.

Does this modified BIOS work fine, if you've already tried it?

I can check if there are some hidden useful settings in the BIOS menus for Asus P5S-B motherboard. I still can't help with adding support for new CPUs (like adding a K6-2+/III+ support), but yeah, there's already a patched version with added support for K6 "plus" CPUs for this board on the Jan's site.

I'll send you a PM later, so we don't dilute this thread with off-topic posts about another model motherboard.

analog_programmer: Thanks for sending that message!

About the SiS540 build: Were you able to replicate the results that scrap computing shared in the video? A 133MHz bus should really help on Socket 7...

The attachment image.jpg is no longer available

Also, can anyone verify compatibility of these add ons I found in my drawer

I still need to find a VGA header maybe I can steal one from a low profile video card?

I tried this in the bottom slot, it prevented system booting. Perhaps a bios setting? Removal allowed POST.

Edit: no go in top slot either. Darn.

The PS/2 and USB header should work. I've had one on my M726MRT (ALI Aladdin Pro II, Slot 1 and 370).

That P2/IR/USB header looks like the right one.

I remember those when they were new, it's definitely a PC Chips turd. I don’t know if it was common elsewhere but the main seller of PC Chips boards in my town insisted they were “Houston” brand not PC Chips. Perhaps to distance themselves from the bad reputation of PC Chips aka PC Shits.

I would think the M586LMR since you have the LAN pins.

In system info it indicates it is Matasonic (spelling?) not in front of it atm, but that’s what I recall. Not pc chips.

I was lucky enough to find this for sale

The attachment IMG_6443.jpeg is no longer available

I also found in my drawer of stuff a lan board with ribbon.

Any thoughts on the audio riser?

Or the memory/multi display extension? Need those now also.

Matsonic, Hsin Tech, Houston, Amptron, Sybercom, etc. it's all PC Chips.

I think unless you can find the part you aren't going to have any sound, aside from that I have no helpful advice, sorry.

Wish there was a better chipset for SS7, if they only pushed it to native 133FSB, I am going to try to do my P5A native 133FSB

Try some low ESR polymer caps. Maybe a VRM upgrade.

Did you see the score I got on the mvp4 build with a 7500…. It’s going pretty good! I need to find a way to adapt it to AGP through the PCI slot.

I saw the score, thought it was low :p

i haven't been able to get nvidia stuff to work right.

what do you suggest to make the score better?? it was a good score compared to what I have been able to get before! :p my prev record with a 9800 pro and k6-3+ was only a couple hundred points more.

MVP4 should not be slower than MVP3? Maybe chipset driver, set to "slow" when installing?
