i have the 2 disc version from that ultimate archive bundle.
My problem is i got no speech output. Im running on original hardware. Settings all correct.
When i speak to an npc i see that game is reading the speech but i cant hear anything. Internal cable from cd drive to blaster is connected and testet.
What also strange after i exit the game , the cd drive is still reading that speech file.
I tryed this on two different systems. Both the same, no speech. And yes it on in the options.

any ideas?

Does your CDROM have an external headphone jack on the front? It might be worth plugging in a pair and seeing if you can hear anything there.

Thats it! With headphones on the player front i can hear the speech. But why? Is there a way to config this? Its a CT-1600.
When i try my Day of tentacle speaky version it works just fine to the lineout from the soundcard.

DoTT has speech in a file on the cd (or your install folder), just like the .exe, image data etc.

The Xeen speech are actual audio tracks on the disk - they are not read, the cd drive is instead given a command to "play track 7".

Audio data read the former method is played back via your sound card. Cd tracks played the latter come out of the headphones jack on the cd drive (if available) or via a dedicated audio cable on the back of the drive. You can even put the disc in a normal cd player and listen to it.

You *should* have a dedicated cable from back of cd drive to your soundcard. This is only a 2 pin + ground cable... It is *not* the large multi way ribbon cable.

If you *do* have the cd audio cable connected to your sound card then you may need to play with your sound card mixer utility to unmute or raise the volume of your cd audio.
