Hi. I know the topic has been touched upon (commercial use of DosBox for new games). However, I want to discuss the topic more under the light of modern platforms. Consoles are a big market, and if I develop a game I would definitely want to target the latest Playstation, Xbox and Switch platforms in addition to PC.

Targetting DosBox is a cool exercise in retro programming rather than the boring Unity/UE/D3D12/Vulkan stuff. With some effort, the game can also run on original DOS machines.

To my knowledge, DOSBox was never ported to console platforms, right? What would it mean to port it to a platform that requires developer registration before being able to access any platform-specific code? How would that work with the LGPL? As the console code modifications must be made available as per the license, yet first-party doesn't want the public seeing any of its libraries unless they're registered devs.

Thanks
