Hi,
I'm facing troubles with a 6800GT.
I got a "working" V9999GT. It's well detected in WinXP, drivers 91.31 installed OK but as soon as I want to launch something in 3D (dxdiag tests, 3dmark99/2000/2001/2003), the display gets broken, full of artifacts and finally the system hangs.
The two dual MOSFETs (AP4226M-type) for the RAM buck converter have been replaced because one was suspicious, as well as a bulgy cap.
Now the voltages for Vcore and VRAM seem OK. Traces on oscilloscope for these 2 voltages are rather clean and there is no more high frequency switching noise than on a working NX6800-TD128.
But 3D is still impossible.
I also replaced the thermal paste. No clear difference if not I can see 1sec of game 1 on 3dmark99 instead of 0.5sec !!!
It may be related with core temperature... What do you think ? RAM issue? Core issue? Reballing ?
I heard about Nvidia MODS/MATS. There is an old version shared but it may not be compatible with NV4x chips (see here GeForce3 - mixing memory modules)
Does the new versions of MODS/MATS could work with the 6800GT ?
I would like to diagnose a bit before hairdrying it !!!
Cheers,
JB
