Aww yeah. Got two mystery boxes today.

The attachment 20250512_162029.jpg is no longer available

One is a Micron, says its broken. It has a Dallas RTC.

The attachment 20250512_162054.jpg is no longer available
The attachment 20250512_162042.jpg is no longer available

The other is a "custom" with MSI MS-6712 (KT4V) and still unknown CPU/AGP card. I was told it beeps. I'll find out. I know nothing about this board yet, but it looks cool - I didn't have a RED one yet.

Give or take a minor version eg "mx4500"
Though the gf fx are pretty similar too.

I built:
Convert old ASUS ASC boardviews to KICAD PCB!
Re: A comprehensive guide to install and play MechWarrior 2 on new versions on Windows.
Dos+Windows 3.11+tcp+vbe_svga auto-install iso template
Script to backup Win9x\ME drivers from a working install
Re: The thing no one asked for: KICAD 440bx reference schematic

Yeah beige box time again. Seller said there was an AX59 Pro inside, but not sure about the amount of cache.

So this one sparks joy:

I grabbed two wholly different items today, one for Macs and one for PCs. One that's still got very specific use cases today, and one that is basically useless.

The attachment IMG_4848.jpg is no longer available

Yes, an External Caddy SCSI CD drive, specifically an AppleCD 300. Not even a plus, just a 300. The other is a Pentium 4 HT EXTREME Edition. Specifically it's a Gallatin 3.4GHz that uses LGA 775. I now thing I have the two best examples of the P4. You know, the Literal worst ever 1.3GHz Williamette, and the Emergency Edition. Really summarizes intel during those years.

I am crazy about the Gallatin P4s ... So brute force 😁

If it's dual it's kind of cool ... 😎

Grabbed a bunch of retro soundcards from local listings site. Along with some quite common stuff, came an interesting thing:

121472435.jpg

Looking at components on board, i would guess that it is quite old hardware, probably even mid 80s thing?

So i googled the model number and there is even an website available, unfortunately no software available to download.
https://www.eletech.com/Products/Audio_Repeat … 0_dev_tools.htm

I cant quite understand the purpose of this card, is it simply an sound recording device?

Basically yes, but it is especially for developing sound in a certain compressed format and to be stored in EPROM.

Those EPROMs can be installed on these boards for playback, either controlled by buttons, sensors, controllers etc.

https://www.eletech.com/Products/Audio_Repeat … e/quikvoice.htm

As the page says, applications are for example

* Exhibits, displays and attractions
* Message repeaters
* Gaming, vending and amusement equipment
* Industrial controls
* Security alarms
* Elevator announcement

Wow, that is so cool! I can't believe there is still a web page online for something like that, and you didn't even have to go to the internet archive to locate it.

They must have produced it for quite a while for it to have made it to the "website" era in the first place, but it's funny that all of the accessories shown definitely look like they're straight out of the 80s.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Yeah, heh. I can hook the SCSI drive up to my SE/30 and do a handful of things there.

Appears to be for recording WAV files, dates from back when recording high quality WAV files in software mode (ie. using just the CPU) was impossible.. presumably..

Yesterday, I picked up the weirdest franken-puter I ever encountered:
Mobo CPU: An AMD Athlon II x4 with 2GB of RAM
OS: Windows 8.1 with license
Case: in a beige P4 case (with badge)
HDD: 240 SSD
Extension: USB 3.0 card + USB 3.0 front bay
Floppy: a 1.44mb + 1.2mb (both working!)
Bonus: First edition of MS Office (28 disks!!!)

So this thing is gonna contribute to upgrade my 486... and one of the kids Ryzen machine that lacks USB ports and space of their darn humongous games. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

P3 866, V3, SB Audigy 2
P2 300, TNT, V2, Audigy 2 ZS
P233 MMX, Mystique 220, V1, AWE64
P100, S3 Virge GX, AWE64, WavetablePi & PicoGus
Prolinea 4/50, ET4000, SB 16, WavetablePi
486DX2 66, CL-GD5424, SB 32, SC55
SC386SX 25, TVGA8900, Audician32+

Hmm. I was going to say that's a 486 that got upgraded, but presumably it's atx. By that era there weren't any AT mobos.
Still, it probably is that,but the case got swapped.

I don't have many motherboards on my hit list of boards I want but I got one today a nice Soyo SY-6BA+IV, its got a metric ton of bells and whistles for overclocking along with ATA 66 4 dimm slots and 2 ISA.

Pretty much a board built for the PII/PIII tinkerer.

The attachment Soyo SY-6BA+IV.jpg is no longer available

This one comes with a PIII 667 and 640 Mb of ram ...kinda odd amount of memory .. looking at the photos its got 4 256Mb sticks in it which means some of the sticks are not being detected correctly ..likely got a couple of single rank high density sticks in there.

Still thats not hard to sort out when it gets here.

An update for this board, its arrived and its not a PIII 667 .. its a PIII 1000 256/100/1.7v SL4KL ...a 100FSB PIII !... I think that perhaps the seller didn't fully understand what this board had as they also got the memory all wrong too.

Never though I would ever actually get a 1Ghz 100FSB Slot 1 PIII they tend to be stupidly expensive, itll make a great addition to my collection as I recently got a PIII 1000 133FSB model too, might see if this Soyo board can run the 133FSB model as well and do some benching if it can.
