if you can upload some pics we can better answer but if it's the same as the one above.

Better first to find out what your onboard video uses, unless its something terrible upgrading will only give a few FPS at best. and if its the same as the above PC's you only have 2 ISA slots and would think sound and network are better upgrade options.

Yes you can use a Gotek, as far as the computer knows it's a standard floppy drive.

If needed you can probably attach a CD drive as a slave and the case open, but I find once I have a 486 up and running, as long as you have a gotek (for dos install) or largish hard drive with a 2nd partition for Windows install files and network drivers, you don't really need a CD drive.

Thanks again for the detailed reply .. I forgot the front of the case is designed around the floppy drive so I guess that makes it harder to just fit a standard gotek 😬 here are some pictures

Gotek will still fit, its dimensions are the same as a standard floppy, For reference here is my somewhat similar 486 with a Gotek

That Cirrus Logic CL-GD5428-80QC-A is your onboard video card, more commonly just called a Cirrus Logic GD5428 and quite a good card.
Phil did a video on the VL Bus variant where it comes in 2nd.

The KM416C256AJ-7 chip next to the brown socket would be the video cards memory. So you have 256kb of video memory.
That is enough for dos gaming, or get the same chip and insert it into that brown socket for 512kb, Only real benefit of doing this would be desktop resolution in windows.
e.g. 256kb allows 640 x 400 256 colours upgrading to 512kb increases this to 800 x 600 256 colours.

Wow thank you so much for that reply it's very helpful 😀
I'm just still wondering how the gotek will work on this because I definitely need a way to load programs.
Here's what I mean about the design..

Wonder if I need some sort of extended cables to run it outside

Cheers

Ah I see what you mean now.
For my cases like that I run the computer with the case open and just attach the cables to the Gotek rather then the actual FDD
Once I've finished I remove the Gotek and close the case.

on a 486 if you have a hard drive of a couple of GB and networking, you'll find you wont need to use it that often.
