Been trying to get Win98 to acknowledges actual system installed ram memory. Currently cannot get windows to acknowledge more than 64MB. I tried a couple tips, but no change, still 64MB. (see images)

Are you sure your BIOS sees all the memory? Perhaps it's a low vs. high density issue with what your chipset supports vs. the RAM you have installed.

Could be due to the below 16MB memory hole option being enabled in BIOS.

Unless there are ISA expansions cards in the system that need that, the option should be disabled.

Yes, the BIOS addresses all the memory correctly. I have tried with one bank 512MB stick installed, and two banks with 512MB installed, same outcome.

It is a TUV4X board with the VIA Apollo chipset.

There are a handful of ways for the OS to ask the BIOS how much RAM the system has, some of which have a 64MB limit, but your machine is much too new to have those.
If you're into Linux, you could boot an old distro (such as Slackware 8.0 disc 2) and look at dmesg. The INT 15h E820h table tells the OS how much RAM there is and where.

Is the option for OS/2 Onboard Memory > 64M set to enabled?

Are you using an old version of himem.sys?

What does DOS report, when booted in command prompt only mode?

What does the bios say during post, and what are the machine specs?

I built:
Convert old ASUS ASC boardviews to KICAD PCB!
Re: A comprehensive guide to install and play MechWarrior 2 on new versions on Windows.
Dos+Windows 3.11+tcp+vbe_svga auto-install iso template
Script to backup Win9x\ME drivers from a working install

It's pretty bare bones, I don't really plan to add anything additional. It is the same machine in my signature.

Hmm
So the bios shows the full amount.

Config.sys?
Autoexec?
Win.ini?
System. Ini?

Paste those here.

Thoughts: some dos memory manager, or Maxpages or whatever it is in the 386enh section of whichever ini

Your first post says 64GB, twice. I think you mean MB as per one of your screenshots.

I will provide screen shots of all these you post. There may be something that stands out for someone with more experience than myself.

since no one mentioned it yet...

Is the correct himem.sys in use?

ie, it could be that you are starting the computer and using the himem.sys from an older dos version.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

Someone actually has. Re: Win98 Limited Memory?

But it's a good point and definitely worth bringing up again.

Wow, thanks. I should've done a search first. But indeed good to bring up again since it seems to have been overlooked, and OP has dualboot dos/98 in his signature.
