Hello,

I accidentally damaged my floppy drive beyond repair and am looking for a replacement. The current one is from YE Data with FRU 72X6112. Would one with FRU 72x6068 also fit?
FYI, the 35 model has Media Sense, and I don't think the 70X6068 has this feature. The question is, does it still work?

I'm assuming you are talking about the Ps/2 Model 35. You can adapt a standard PC floppy drive to work on that computer, and it's not that complicated. No need to buy expensive IBM drives, unless you're going for all original hardware.

Yes, i mean the PS/2 Model 35.
In think that ist only possible with a special Adapter, to route the voltage, the Media Sense signals and the Drive ID.

I did the mod to a standard floppy drive for my Model 30 286, and it just requires some resistors and wires.

Yeah, for a Model 30 it is much easier to build an adapter.

I was able to get a 72x6068 drive. It works, but it gives me error 604 (incorrect floppy drive) every time the system boots. So, it must be a drive with Media Sense or Drive ID.
