I have two Solo 9100 laptops. One is in pretty rough shape but has the 300MHz P2 with 512k cace on a MMC-1 card from what I am reading. I have another in amazing condition but has the slower 266MHz CPU also with 512k cache. I know the difference isn't huge but the things I do like playing some older Windows games in software mode, browsing with RetroZilla, and chatting on AOL 4.0 (thanks project Nina!) could stand the slight bump. I'm just not sure how deep into the laptop you must go to get to the CPU card and I have seen people in the past post that they used to service these things and am hoping someone can provide some insight.
On a side note, I know it has a lithium coin cell CMOS battery. Anyone know how hard this is to get to and solder a new one into place by chance? And I see there is also a 400MHZ MMC-1 card that is rare but possibly compatible. It looks like it only has 256k of cache but that it should be "on die" vs external so in theory I think it should be just as fast right? Anyone know if the BIOS in these machines will even see that?
