I want to revive my old Tulip AT 386 desktop PC, but I cannot find the diagnose utility for setting up bios in English, only in Dutch. It's very annoying, I can't make the correct selections and etc.

Anyone from Netherlands who can help me?

If you look here under Files - Configurators

https://web.archive.org/web/20000528173921/ht … lip.com/support

it lists a file DIAG207E.EXE Diagnostics 2.07 for the Tulip compact serie (English)

which is included in this download http://oldcomputer.info/pc/board_other/tulipdg.7z on the MCbx Old Computer Collection site page here http://oldcomputer.info/pc/board_other/index.htm

Thank you! Thank you!

You saved me! I owe you!

No I can play with my old PC 21 years after it's withdrawal! I want to repair the plastics, they're very yellowish, I will paint them and I must replace all it's tantal capacitors...

The sad part of the story is that I cannot find it's HDD (WDC 528 MB, 07/1994) with old files dated back from mid 1980s to 1998, it's my fathers file. I have all the Word, Excel, Dbase, Professional Write and Lotus 1-2-3 files and documents to 1,2 and 1,44 floppies but I don't have my Games folder anymore.

Great!

I'm not sure you should paint any plastic though. You might want to look into retrobrighting it (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retr0bright).

Personally, I (mostly) prefer to keep the yellowing. It's part of the character and history of the hardware.

I know it's been 6 years but if you happen to still hav the machine, would it be possible to dump the BIOS and post it here? Thanks in advance for your time and understanding.

Of course I still have the machine!

It isn't easy to dumb the rom right now.

It needs an eeprom programmer?

That's not the BIOS, just an EEPROM dump, unfortunately. Their BIOS page is empty. 🙁

Also, this being a 386SX machin, dumping C000-C7FFF and E000-FFFF using DEBUG.EXE should be enough.

It's an i386DX with a math co-processor machine! It was created for heavy business in mind!

I will try it.

Do you happen to have images of the mainboard or could take some?
I got one some time ago but it was stripped for parts (the pictures on theretroweb are from mine).
I assume the empty sockets are for PALs so irreplaceable but it would be good to know for sure.

Glad I helped.

The only issue I have, is that I couldn't run it with 16 MBs of RAM. Only with 8 MBs. Maybe is a jumper setting. I use to have the manual for the motherboard, but since the last moving from the previous home (2001), I lost it.

It works great. I added a new PVGA1A ISA VGA card with 1MB VRAM and a faster disk controller.
