I got a Roland SC-55 mkII recently, and decided to take it completely apart to give it a proper clean. Since I would have it completely apart, even though all the original caps were good quality ones, I decided to replace all of them.
I'm not sure how many units are affected by these issues, as this is my first SC-55 mkII, but if you have one, you might want to check for these issues:
1. Corrosive adhesive near/under the large 2200uF 16V capacitor.
After removing the adhesive and cleaning the corrosion, it looked like this:
The trace was broken, and the via had no connectivity to the other side. I cleaned the via with a small drill bit, and soldered a wire to fix it and the broken trace:
I didn't take a before picture, but the adhesive is around this area:
2. Goop
I'm not sure wth this used to be, probably a rubber standoff. It separated into two parts, a tar like substance, and a clear sticky liquid.
