I'm putting together a old school gaming PC and wanted to know what all I might need to get these games running at max settings at 1600x1200 rez.
simpsons hit and run
Deus Ex
KOTOR 1 and 2

mhh i should have specified that also supports 9x 😂
thanks for the advice tho. the 9xxx line of cards were some of the best cards made.
If Win98 go for a fast ~ 3GHz P4, northwood or prescott, GF6800.

I would love to go with a p4 and 875 chip set board, its my favorite platform but the 875 does not support the SB live's dos drovers. I may go for a via chip set board. thanks for the advice. I think a 6800 would be the best card to use in this case too.
So what, it's not like SB Live is some sort of a great soundcard anyway 😉 You can get a Solo instead.

That doesn't support EAX, so if you want EAX for Win98 games while still having DOS support then the SBLive is a pretty good choice, the Audigy cards are also a good choice for that too. Personally i would grab a cheap Audigy or Audigy 2 and set that up for both DOS and 98Se .. its got far better drivers than the SBLive.
Solo-1 is great if you don't want or need EAX.
^ Yup, that's a given.
A game like Deus Ex would run in 1600 on my former P4 (2.0 Northwood, GF3 Ti200, SDRAM) without any issues but I only had 1024x768 @ 85 Hz, so can't say 100% for sure yes it runs that res in 42 FPS.
Kotor 2 is a 2005 game. I had no issues with games from that era either, like LOMAC:Flaming Cliffs or HoMM5 or UT 2K4.
Without any specifics to back it up, a i845 board with 2.6 or 2.8 CPU, AGP GF6800 should eat that game list for breakfast and it has no DMA problems with SB in DOS.
Here be something like that -> P4 Northwood: My fastest Win98 PC - 1.16 Ghz to 3.0 Ghz
