Well I was wondering what my introductory post was going to be about and I guess I found my answer. I recently ordered what was labeled as open box and audigy 2 value and it has this weird wire attached to the CA108 chip.

The attachment IMG20250606044158.jpg is no longer available

Does anyone know why someone would have done this? I assume this wrecks the card. I paid a paltry sum and it came with all the software discs so I plan to keep it.

Interesting. Didn't realize it had multiple revisions. Never showed up in my searches, thank you.

I have seen such photos of A2V before.
There are only 3 revisions
1. With jumper
1.1 - Without. In fact, the best of all Audigy family.
2. With added capacitors, later renamed to SB0600. Measures a little better, sounds a lot worse.
