And any AM radio can pick up CW and SSB signals by the addition of a BFO, a Beat Frequency Oscillator.

Here is a 455 kHz beat frequency oscillator (BFO) that I assembled a few years ago. The barebones kit came with just the PC board and components, and I mounted it in an enclosure that has a 9 volt battery compartment, and added banana jacks and a power switch. Now I can listen to all of the HAM radio operators broadcasting on single-sideband with some of my (non-SSB) shortwave radios 😀

Building crystal radios is fun, too.

See my pics in one of my previous replies a few posts above 😊 I also have a few others that I've built but don't have pics of.

Speaking of electronics and soldering, my two favorite drawers in my large tool chest 😀

Also, pics of my workbench and radio shack (quite a few homebrew electronics made from scratch, and a few built from kits).
