Thought this my be the fun idea for a discussion.

I snapped this one a few years ago when I tried to put OEM WD raptor drive on a old 865 chipset board. The drive ran fine on newer boards but oddly it would never work on old nf2 or 865 boards or any other really old sata chip set card.
apparently the board thought it was a buzz drive 🤣 .

What about you guys ? seen anything odd or funny ?

That's bit calling, it's highly inappropriate. No-no, it needs a flashing asap!

maybe he means calling a lady cute, whistling at her and so on. Young women these days can be supper itchy if you know what I mean. Can't say something nice to most of them without making them mad. I mean i get it if you don't want the attention, just let the guy know... no need to get mad or hostile . My wife who grew up on a farm in a 3rd world county flat out refuses to even try to make friends with women here anymore because of how they get offended and mad at everything and complain all day.

The funniest?

OK-- With Novell Netware 5 client installed, if you create a user home directory that has a max size of 0 bytes, then look at it in windows after it mounts, it says that the volume's size is over 12 exabytes in size, with an unintelligable string for bytes used.

Another fun one, is to use the novell remote admin tool to daisy chain remote control sessions, then take control of your own workstation at the very end of the chain. It will bluescreen every computer in the chain. Fun times!

For real. I did it as a joke in the then mandatory Novell CNA class I was forced to endure, in the before times. The instructor was not amused by my hijinx.

Novell's NDS tree security was laughable as well. It was completely possible to create strange loops with infinite recursion depth, and hidden user objects that the main global admin could not see, let alone remove.

(The basic rules were: Alias objects must point to real objects. At least one user object must be an administrator for any admin other than global admin.)
(as a bored schoolkid, I created an Organizational Unit (OU) object, that contained an alias to itself. This was permitted, and produced an infinitely traversable branch in the tree. This would demolish certain command line tools that did recursive tree navigation. For the user accounts, you can create 2 "Abuser" backdoor accounts, that reference EACH OTHER as admins, but revoke the system admin's permissions to see, touch, or administer them. You can make them into the functional equal of the root global admin, and the global admin will never know, and can never know.)

I made these to see if the system was smart enough to stop you--- *IT WAS NOT*. When I asked the instructor what could be done to correct such situations, I was admonished for creating these conditions in the lab computer network. 🤣

Back in 2001 someone in our department discovered that we could send messages to each other with the net send command.
https://www.lifewire.com/net-send-2618095
The joke was to come up with the dirtiest message to prank your colleagues. The joke lasted until one of us swapped 2 digits in the destination computer name and our department head came out of her room fuming and shouting, demanding to know who had sent her all that filth.
That message was undoubtedly the funniest thing I have ever seen on a computer.

(One of us volunteered to explain the joke and the typo in the computer name to the boss and the young graduate did not lose his job. She had a good laugh about it later.)

I came here to say the same thing! I've always loved that error message. 😁

"Unable to Satisfy"
"?Redo from start"
"Extra Ignored"
"No ROM BASIC. System Halted."
"Unknown error"
"Error in EXE"

All real error messages I've encounted on real systems during the 1980s. The last two are the most useless error messages ever.

Re: List of VLB IDE Controllers

If you use version 2.07 of CMD640X.SYS from Acculogic on a non Acculogic card, there's a small random chance that the driver will produce this error message when it loads:

When your motherboard reports a a corrupted name for an ATA device, it is often a sign that there is a signal integrity issue on your cable. Ignore it at your own peril!
