I'm sorry if everyone knows about this already, but I hadn't really found it anywhere in a way that was easy to use. I thought about putting this up on PC Gaming Wiki, but I didn't know how to best go about that and anxiety had me worried they'd get mad at me for doing it wrong.
Anyway. The pillarboxing of The Secrets of Atlantis was driving me nuts. I've been working on this project to give my partner the most perfect versions of the games of my youth to try, to share with them. Atlantis 5 is just... tiny at widescreen resolutions, even at a low one like 1366x768 on my potato.
So I got to messing around with Display ROI and scaling. It took a lot of work but eventually I managed to get it to run in proper widescreen. The only drawback? The cursor isn't visible on the initial title screen. This isn't a dealbreaker as one can wave the mouse around and the options highlight. Once in either the game or the load menu, the cursor works perfectly.
I was excited by this point. But then I dropped the conf in my installation of Ring II - Twilight of the Gods, and it worked perfectly there as well. I mean, there might be some valid reason as to why I shouldn't do this, but considering it works perfectly—so far as i can tell—in two games? I was getting increasingly excited. I'd've tried it with Beyond Good & Evil, but there's already a better solution in place for that one.
I've attached my conf if anyone is curious. I run at 1366x768, as I said, so if you run at other resolutions you're going to have to wiggle the numbers of DX's resolution and ROI's cropping to get it just right. Or you could just run at 1366x768 if you've a 16:9 monitor.
The only other thing is that... um, don't thank me for it. This is Dege's hard work. It's just that I noticed that those options exist and my reaction to them was *ooh, what do those do*? Also, again, sorry if everyone knows about this but since it isn't mentioned on the articles for either Atlantis 5 or Ring II, I figured it's worth sharing?
I'm only attaching the conf as I think it's better that you supply your own binaries, for security and just to ensure you have the latest version of dgVoodoo2.
