hi folks
I've recently discovered PCem program I'm having a bit of trouble when I try to build a Amstrad 1512
through the program.
the trouble I'm having is this, I build the machine it starts up right but then askes to insert a system disk.
I've tried inserting a Ms dos iso file and press enter as it says to do but it just goes back to the same message
witch is insert a system disk so I'm not Shure what I should do.
when I make the build of the Amstrad 1512 through PCem it doesn't load dos or any thing
just tells me to insert a system disk just wondered if any one knows what I should do
many thanks.

You need to obtain the Amstrad system disks in IMA format

ISO is for CD-ROM images. It has nothing to do with floppy disks.

ETA: Here is full procedure to set up Amstrad PC1512 machine on PCem:

  1. Create new Amstrad PC1512 machine with A: 5.25" 360k and B: 3.5" 720k floppy drives, 20 MB DTC 5150X Type 02 hard drive, and Amstrad mouse
  2. Start the machine and boot from Amstrad disk 1 in drive A:
  3. Run FDISK to create a DOS partition on the hard disk then format it with FORMAT C: /S
  4. Insert Amstrad disk 5 and run CONFIG.BAT. This will copy everything to the hard disk

To transfer other software to the system, you can use WinImage to create 720k IMA image files. Mount them on drive B: (You cannot use high density disk images on this system). I have not tried getting TCP/IP networking to work, but it's probably more trouble than it's worth.

ETA2: To work with hard disk images: IMA images can also be opened in WinImage, whereas VHD images can be attached in Windows Disk Management. [Update: WinImage 10 appears to have problems with these IMA files. Use VHD instead.]

ETA3: You should be running PCem with administrative privileges or else configuration files and HDD images will be saved in the AppData VirtualStore directory instead of the PCem directory.

Is this too much voodoo?
