Are there are visible signs of capacitor leakage and/or bulging ? Capacitors that look OK might still be bad, but if they look bad, they are.

Also, the brand and series of the capacitors can provide hints, even in the absence of visual failures.

I can see a spec of dust or something across the legs of the cache chip. Maybe clean up the area with some alcohol and try again. You can also try cooling the chip to see if the problem goes away (if it wouldn't be the first issue)

Yeah, a good wash never makes things worse.
Remove battery though.

I built:
Convert old ASUS ASC boardviews to KICAD PCB!
Re: A comprehensive guide to install and play MechWarrior 2 on new versions on Windows.
Dos+Windows 3.11+tcp+vbe_svga auto-install iso template
Script to backup Win9x\ME drivers from a working install

I used a dishwasher with no soap on many things. Especially when I was learning fixing gpus ~2020. Sometimes just handwash with dish soap and a toothbrush.
Water is "the universal solvent" so my theory in many cases was that the very very mild "acid" action in many cases removed invisible tin whiskers (forget name) which grow on lead free solder.
Several gpus fully revived, zero got worse.

No battery, dry properly, you'll be fine.

Dendrites!
The old VHS memory gets there eventually.
