Alone in the Dark works perfect, UNLESS I put sound effects on, what happens is everytime I move or do something it lags, I'm pretty sure this is because the sound is trying to be found, and when it is, it plays the sound but stops the game.

I knew a fix for this a while ago, but I forgot >_>...so there is a way...

Does anyone know the fix for it D:?

One of my friends on the Bethesda forums plays that game and unless I am mistaken, it runs flawlessly. I'll PM him and see what he says.

Please do, I am not sure why it is lagging, only when sound effects is on. I tried editing almost everything in the config [returning to original options when it didn't work of course...]...

😒 Oh I should also say this happens to ALL 3 alone in the darks [the original, one eyed jack, and the western one].

Runs fine out of the box, try reinstalling it within dosbox.

I do that, and it either gives me an error like directory doesn't exist or not enough harddrive space on c:\ [I got 30 gb...]

Sounds like you need to brush up on your basic Dosbox knowledge by reading the readme and the wiki. Especially the part on mounting.

* Intel Pentium Dual-Core e2180 @ 2Ghz | 3GB Ram | Asus Geforce 9600GT 512MB | Vista Basic *
* AMD Sempron XP 2800+ @ 1,6Ghz | 1GB Ram | SiS M760GX | Windows XP | Linux Mint 8 *
* Dedicated DOS-machine obsolete since DOSBox 0.73 *

I know how to mount etc.

It's the installation that is the problem. It won't change [clicking does nothing] Z to C drive....Installing with dosbox is not working.

I can run AITD with no particular issues or configuration. Perhaps, are you using the CD version?

I'm using

core=auto

in the AITD conf

When your problem is solved I suggest that you use

scaler=scan2x

Makes it look way cool.

Sounds like you're not mounting a folder as "C:\", a common problem and easily remedied. Open "dosbox.conf" in Wordpad and go down to the bottom of the file, and under the line "[autoexec]", put in "mount C: C:\DosGames -freesize 1024", which will mount your "C:\DosGames" folder every time you start DOSBox. You need to create that folder first, naturally!

there's no reason for -freesize

Maybe I am doing something wrong.

It is installed, in folder I-Motion, than in folder Indark2, then I run AitD2.exe

My auto is set like...

mount c d:\ -t cdrom
mount d:\
mount d c:\
d:\
cd i-motion
cd indark2
aitd2.exe

😒 am I doing something wrong D:?

I noticed I did something wrong [I didn't mean to put mount d:\ for the second line, just d:\], so I also tried:

Mount d d:\ -t cdrom
d:\
mount c c:\
c:\
cd i-motion
cd indark2
aitd2.exe

still lags >_>

Read some of the guides on this forum first, and check out the readme in-depth.

Use something like
mount c c:\oldgames
where oldgames is an empty directory on your harddisk
and
mount d d:\ -t cdrom
where d:\ is your cdrom, with the aitd-cd inserted.
Then run the installer on d: WITHIN dosbox and install the game.

How did you install it? It's crucial that you installed it WITHIN dosbox.
