I'm trying to run OG XCOM in Windows '98 DOS mode. It will launch just fine with ufo.bat, but it's way too fast.

I cannot figure out how to launch the game with any throttling software. I'm assuming it's because there is no .exe and it launches from a .bat file?

I've tried Throttle and it creates a PCISCAN.TXT file and nothing happens. Mo'Slo doesn't like .bat files and doesn't seem to work on my machine anyway (2.1 just hangs). CPUSPD says it can't slow my CPU. Slowdos does nothing. DOSBOX I haven't got a clue what I'm doing.

Any other way I can approach this??

Maybe this game is on DivByZero’s list to patch…

Maybe off-topic, but:
Can you get & try Xcom "ufogold" version?
This is the only version I've known, from a PCGamer CD (July-2000), which had a bunch of full games.

It works fine on Win98, XP, 7:
If you have a newer video card (e.g. Geforce), then the graphics would get scrambled like something was wrong with the monitor resolution. There was a directX fixer file "Xcom1Fix" that solved this, and I can share it.

Beyond that, the game works very well on modern PCs with intel integrated graphics (because they still upscale the 320x240 resolution to fit the monitor rather having a small window surrounded by black borders).

The geoscape speed in ufogold is fast, but that depends on how much timeskip you've set. The battlescape speed is very fast at first, but if you reduce the screen scrolling speed in the options menu, then it moves perfectly smoothly & slowly. (I'm not sure if you need to have "VSYNC" on in your GPU options).
