And i don't understand how to use it, would it be possible to have a PDF manual for the IDE Simulator V3 card? Indeed, I received the card without anything else and the documentation on the wabsite is very basic I find. With which file system should I prepare the USB key? What is the maximum size for the USB key, where should I connect the audio cable from the CD-ROM, etc. Maybe there is a forum or a discord? I find that it is very average for an item at this price (no disrespect). The Ide Simulator V3 read/see only one ISO and problem with CD audio sound, reading speed etc... 🙁

Absolutely no problem at all with the Zulu Ide on the same machine... (The Zulu Ide + dac is a beast).

I don't have the v3. I have the previous version. I found the documentation on the website sufficient to use it. But, yes, I agree. It would have been nice to get some basic instructions in the box.

What problems are you having with CD audio and reading speed? How does speed/audio with same images compare to the Zulu?

I suppose some kind of quick start guide would be good, I can put it on the back of the packing slip. I'll need to think of what it should actually say since the various use cases are quite different (e.g. the people using it in a Roland sampler vs PCs vs the original arcade uses. I do have an unfinished PDF manual I already sent trunk70 after they requested it by email)

And sorry about the tariffs, I did hear the Canada ones in particular are terrible. Especially disappointing since I'd tried to get the prices down for this version. Also still trying to get the VAT captured during order for the EU and UK (which are done the same way but need handled separately), but the people helping (I've got some relatives in the UK who are accountants) me are still working on it.

? not quite sure what you mean by this, but the photo shows, what I think looks like, a 3.5 drive bay mount.
and considering it's pico IDE ... I'm assuming it will always connect to an IDE connector.
From what little I read about it there is also possibility of a 2.5 version or 1.8 version.

I guess polpo could chime in on this project of his and make everything Crystal clear. 😀

What you see in that picture is it – it's an IDE/ATA/ATAPI device that plugs into a regular cable. The "internal" version is just the main board and will be the cheaper option, and the full version adds the front panel with OLED, buttons, and WiFi. Both can fit in a 3.5" bay.

I will be doing a Crowd Supply campaign which will be launching very soon!

Yes, all IDENTIFY and INQUIRY data can be overridden in the picoide.ini file on the microSD card: model/vendor name, serial number, max transfer modes, etc.

I think,
at the moment it just allows you to change it's, to give an analog, ID card. Nothing else really changes what the drive actually can do.

It could even ID itself as supporting UDMA6, the picoIDE only does PIO & MWDMA... (maybe at best an UDMA 0 might be implemented?) .

But who knows, I guess, given enough processing power and information/data, some of those custom proprietary extensions might be made someday.
Isn't Phenom's SD2IDE project working more towards those lines?

I feel like BlueSCSI must be mentioned here also.

It emulates a CD-ROM drive and has true analog audio with the addon board, and you can switch CD from command line using SCSITB.EXE.
All CUE/BIN goes into a single "CD3" folder on the exFAT which is a far better solution than adding CD images to a huge DOS drive.

I have only just started to use BlueSCSI but from what I can tell, CD audio working perfectly in Screamer 2 & Shadow Warrior.

Not an optical drive emulator. But someone modified the firmware for those cheap SD2IDE adapters to make them work on the PSX. Just FYI.

From the video it looks like it was a binary modification of the dump. So no source. I guess a patch/diff could be created. But that relies on all the cheap devices having the same revision of the firmware.

A very low cost solution to get around hardware locks and repair hardware is always welcome.

You can binary patch a nop here or there or few parameters, You cant binary patch support for whole new command returning whole sector worth of custom data without first disassembling firmware, getting good lay of the land and understanding whats doing what. Funny thing is LLMs keep all that in internal context and dont really need to write any of it down, and even if you request it it will look incomprehensible if you dont know how and what to ask for. True miracle of modern engineering.
