Hi,
does anyone still have version 1.0 of the Daniel_K SB X-Fi Series Support Pack in their personal archive and could upload it to somewhere?
Thanks for reading!

Why do you need 1.0 when later versions exist?

why do we run windows 9x on a PC when 11 exist...

What a necessary response.

My question stands, I'm curious to why the OP is looking for 1.0 compared to one of the later version(s) of the same support pack. Does it have some features that were depreciated?

my response answers your question perfectly, but if you want assuming you know how to you can do a quick google you can likely find out why he wants versions 1.0. But if I say why you would likely lock his post and he will not get the help he is looking for.

Thanks for the quick response! Since the DDL Unlocker's readme also mentions having to extract some Auzentech drivers I'd be interested to get that from you anyway since AFAIK many Auzentech drivers are also difficult to find on the internet. I also own an Auzentech X-Fi HomeTheater though that one is still in it's box waiting for another system to go in. I'd propose https://gofile.io/home for the upload.

Because that's probably the only version compatible with the DDL Unlocker to enable Dolby Digital Live output via SPDIF & Toslink on any X-Fi card. That feature works ootb in Linux, but on the Windows side it was paid software license which isn't available anymore though and Creative and Dolby are the last companies I expect to release that feature as a free licence or some open source code anytime soon.
Daniel_K back then had to remove the possibility from his DDL Unlocker due to pressure from those companies.

Greets guys!

Thank you very much, eddman! I'll try that package although we might be the victims of confusing naming by Daniel_K for his early packages. Before reading your posting just now I had discovered that there was an 1.0 package released in 2010, but also one in March or April 2008, which is likely the one I need due to the Dolby Digital Unlocker also being from early 2008.
I found links/torrents for that version, but all seem to be down: since I don't know if links to Torrentrackers are allowed here I just say that it's named "SB X-Fi Series Installation Disc for Windows XP/Vista - Drivers" on TPB and "(Xp & Vista) Creative SB X-Fi driver & soft CD from daniel k" on the famous Russian tracker. Direct links were posted in these forums:
https://www.computerbase.de/forum/threads/sb- … loesung.417511/
https://we.poppur.com/thread-924495-1-1.html

Anyway, I'll download the package you found now and first try that. I'll report back here! Thanks again for your big effort!

Hi,
I just tried the package you uploaded and also another one a member of the German forum "Hardwareluxx" dug out of his archive, that one being an 86.4 Mb file named "XFI_SupportPack_1_0.exe".
Sadly with both the DDL Unlocker reports them as not being the correct driver package.
The DDL Unlocker's exe-file is dated 5th May 2008. The package from the Hardwareluxx-member is dated 13th January 2009 and the package you found is dated 13th April 2010.
So my conclusion is that Daniel_K's version numbering was all over the place when he begun putting together his Creative drivers packages and that the driver compatible with the DDL Unlocker must not be newer than from the 5th May 2008. The search for that goes on then...

... but you said you found it on the russian site? Just get it from there. I checked it and the file dates are 11-March-2008.

EDIT:

Uploaded it to archive.org: https://archive.org/details/sb-install_20250724

Hi,
thanks very much again! I'm downloading your newest find right now and report back when I managed to try it. Yes, I had found that package on that Russian tracker & also TPB, but my Torrent-client didn't even manage to download the metadata. The torrent seemed dead. How did you fetch it then?

I just downloaded it, although I am almost always connected through a VPN. I was also logged into the site, but don't know if that matters.

I think I downloaded from that site without an account previously, though maybe that possibility was changed. Anyway, I'm very happy to report that I got the March 2008 package installed and the DDL Unlocker did it's job. I only played half an hour of Far Cry and it worked perfectly!

I had many issues getting the March 2008 package installed though. Maybe it's due to running Windows XP SP3 which wasn't yet released in March 2008 or all those previous drivers I had tried caused those issues. I then used Driver Cleaner Professional Edition and also it's cab-cleaner part to make sure every bit of Creative driver stuff was erased. By looking into the device manager I noticed a WDM-compatibility driver in the Audio/Video/Multimedia-section still installed. I removed that one manually. All that still didn't make it work though. I was finally successfull by only selecting the stuff I wanted to be installed in the Creative setup program but *not* the driver. That made the setup process finish successfully without the crash & automatic reboot I always got previosly. I then rebooted once and then used the setup.exe in \Audio\Drivers\ to install the driver. I then used the DDL Unlocker as explained in the readme. Thanks to the pre-made package I got I didn't need to mess with Auzentech drivers and instead could just use the provided setup file to install the Dolby Digital Live encoder itself.
Btw for anyone interested to download that pre-prepard DDL Unlocker package I used the Mediafire-Link found here: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/proper-and- … aniel_k.261283/

Thanks again @eddman!
