House. Only House. And Scrubs. Only House and Scrubs. And Gutfeld, and Tucker. But that's news and doesn't count.

Scrubs was not bad at all, laughed a lot.

I don't watch TV, but i sat down and watched 3rd rock from the sun with my mum last friday, because it was her birthday.

I manage a pot-pourri of video matter...

I wish i could enjoy it but it lacks that goofiness yet depth to the characters, there's a lot of action but little lore and explanations for the setting, my break point was ep 5th, trust me it's not nostalgia but in comparison to the original show it's lacking, i wish they just wrote an original story because it's barely reminiscent of the manga.

What's it like compared to 1-3? We are nearly done with 3, and so far I'd rate it 1, 3 and then 2... But 3 is quite a long way behind the first season.

Season 2 was just depressing start to finish, with not a single person to like.

If you have something to do like cooking when watching it, then yes. Maybe 1,3/4,2. Jodie Foster did good though.

Season 1 is just too good.

Masters of the Air has been enjoyable so far. The part of WW-2 history has always been an interest of mine, and so far it has been as authentic as I think it's possible to be given the constraints of the budget and making a show that people will be willing to watch.

After watching many YouTube videos about older computer hardware, YouTube began recommending videos about trains - are they trying to tell me something?

Started The Walking Dead - The ones who live.
Unbearable. Like other spin-offs of series it doesn't yield.

It started great but they watered it so much it can't be any worse.

We finished True Detective s4, we liked it. I was hoping for it to go more "xfiles-ey", but they kinda copped out, which is a shame as it definitely had the legs to go the way of other arctic sci-fi mysteries. Still good though. S1 clearly the best by far.

We have just started watching Shogun, and we are both totally engrossed in it.

I am old enough (barely) to remember the series with Richard Chamberlain, and this is clearly way more historically accurate and the acting and cinematography is first class.

Definitely recommended.

Foundation.

I rewatched series 1-2 and found it mildly appealing by now. Too many bad arcs.
It was nice in the evening before bed when they first aired, but it's not all that Asimovian and I prefer the books.
For comparisons between the two just look up for some on yt, there's plenty.

Currently following the new season but not all that impressed.
Visuals are not bad though.
----

I watched Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister enough to need months to pass before rewatching some episode.
Still funny.

I've been watching a lot of older sci-fi shows lately, but mostly Star Trek.

Star Trek
I was not alive when this was originally on TV, but I did watch an episode or two when it was rerun many years later. Watching it now, it's pretty awesome. I guess the quality really drops after the first season, but so far it's really good.

Star Trek: The Next Generation
I'm do remember watching this on TV when it was first broadcast. I went and got the whole series on Blu-ray on a whim, not really expecting to like it, but I ended up loving it. I even liked the first season, which people seem to hate. The Blu-ray set looks amazing, thanks to the fact that the show was originally shot on film.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
I actually have a lot of nostalgia for this show; I was not a Star Trek fan back then, but it's a show I'd always end up watching if I happened to catch it on TV. I found the setting, a giant space station complete with a shady bar, to be very intriguing. Watching the series now, it's even better than I remember. I like this sort of gritty Star Trek that's still optimistic.

Babylon 5
I had never seen this back in the day, but got it because I liked ST:DS9 so much and heard it was a lot like it. So far, I'm partway through the first season, and I really don't like it. The characters feel like stereotypes, and the acting is sometimes really poor with ridiculous accents. It's also lacking the fun but thoughtful sci-fi stuff from the best of the Star Trek shows; you get a bunch of assassins and monsters going around the station early on, but not much else. I've heard that the first season is poor but the series gets a lot better from there, so we'll see.

LEXX
I've got some nostalgia for this one, though I barely remember it. I recalled it being a really weird, slightly sexual sci-fi show, and I was interested in revisiting it and actually watching the whole thing. I was surprised to find that the first season is actually four feature-length shows. I'm halfway through that, and so far it's awesome. I really like this bizarre sci-fi stuff, and the fact that all the characters are sort of annoying is both hilarious and endearing. Yes, sometimes the acting is poor, but it's somehow not so annoying in such a weird show. I like how, so far at least, there's basically no exposition at all, and instead you just figure out what the world is like bit by bit as the show goes on. I absolutely love the trial scene in the first episode, which consists of pre-recorded holograms sentencing people to have their organs harvested through hilariously over the top machines consisting of saws and blades in this far future world of AI and space travel. Black humor at its finest.

DS9 was the first Star Trek show that I ever watched as a kid, and it still remains my favorite to this day. I like TNG too, but not quite as much. The sets there seem less believable and more low budget. And I don't find the TNG crew as interesting as their DS9 counterparts. Might just be my personal bias though, since I started off with the latter show.

It does get much better after the first season. As with DS9, things really kick off once the big war starts. And while the visuals remain low budget compared to contemporary Star Trek shows, Babylon 5 has a really strong narrative, and explores some interesting topics. I think you'll like it.

I'm glad to hear that! I do have the whole series on Blu-ray, so I'll get around to it eventually. Maybe I just have to get through the first season.

glad you like the original, it aged more between 1969 and 1987 (when tng started) than TNG has since in my view, and that's no bad thing. It now has not just the quality of the originals but also a view into a different world, a very different time

TNG always felt "grown up and sensible" and ahead of its time as a tv series, it's aged for sure but still feels sufficiently modern in presentation, plot and so on to me

in TOS things got solved by jumping over a rock, in TNG things got solved by committee meetings 🙁 (there were really good TNG episodes i know)

I actually preferred voyager, it seemed a bit more adventurous somehow

I never gave DS9 enough of a chance, i caught a few "committee meeting" episodes about political intrigue and didn't persist. I like a few ST:Enterprise episodes i watched, but not enough to seek it out and watch more

Still , this all made me think of the 90's again:

X Files, Quantum Leap, Sliders, Seaquest DSV, Millenium, Earth Final Conflict and so many more. I watched some x files recently and it still seemed good. Broadcast TV was good once

I have a lot of fondness for 90s TV, and it's been fun revisiting some of the shows. I've got most of X-Files on DVD, and I've been slowly re-watching that over the last few years... and it's just as good (if not better) as I remember. What a show. I definitely need to revisit Millennium.

It's so nice to watch some show you remember from when you were younger, only to find that it's still great.
