I did Doom 2 maps. I once build a city map, which turned out really well, but it was way too large.
Same with DNF. I build a city, maybe one of the most beautiful maps I've build for the game... I ended up reaching the most building blocks possible the game engine could handle, so the last building was done in a rush to have at least an ending to the map if you want to play it in single player.
I'll have a look and see if I can find some screenshots.

screenshots would be cool, the best levels in D3d were the ones that looked "real" imo, there was something about being in the world of Duke but seeing things like buildings, dumpsters, rooms and so on that were based on real things. It was the first game i was inspired to make maps for - and i made a few smaller ones and one functioning subway/metro map which was fun - but never the big cityscapes i really wanted

I want to share my new aquarium map I built for WoP, where you must dive and frag to win. Like my game at GGJ, "Dive Hard," you have 4 stars, and most of the gameplay is under the water.

Today I found some old Doom II wads I created.
Nothing really interesting as at that time I was using a difficult program that required to put all in perfect order fro vertexes, lines, walls, textures... not like what is available today.

Good memories from 1999-2001.

I decided to try a few hard Doom II levels (the ones with lots of enemies and BFG is mandatory): wow, they are hard! UV Max and that stuff... ouch!
With keyboard only I'm not that good anymore 🤣

I grew into mouse and keyboard and that's how I do it now.

You can play even the original Doom with mouse+keyboard.
However, I've gotten into the habit of playing keyboard only in DOS.
For all the original levels and some of the early WADs - it is enough.
For the modern "slaughterfests" - not so much.

In DOS keyboard only too, but windows is with mouse.
"normal" levels are doable, recent stuff is really crazy.
For the few times I play I don't mind. In windows I always hit the win key......... and I hate it.
