Hi,

I am having a problem getting Dosbox to talk to the internal modem in my laptop running Vista.

My config line under [serial] looks like
serial1=directserial realport:COM3

When I start I keep getting the following messages
Serial1: Opening COM3
Serial9600: Desired serial mode not supported (5,0,0,1
Serial9600: Desired serial mode not supported (5,0,0,1

and the program does not talk to the modem when i try. The internal modem is using COM3 as I have tested this in hyperterm. Does dosbox just not support all of these virtual com ports?

By the way I have tried running with full admin rights.

Heh, the error message is messed up, but well...

This part works for me. Might depend on the modem driver though. The message might even be insignificant (data will be transported to the modem nevertheless). Or it doesn't like 5-bit wide characters. You could try with a simple dos terminal program to find out if the modem will work this way.

Use the "Hayes Compatible" modem strings. I have a 64bit AMD laptop that has a shiny new modem in it that wasn't even thought of when Doom was around, yet using the "Hayes Compatible" modem setup, Doom can actually dial out on my phone using that new modem. Hayes is pretty much a standard, so in your program setup, choose that and you should be gold.
