Hi everyone – I just rediscovered a set of CDs some of which I had a long time ago:

The attachment Share1.jpg is no longer available

Here is what I remember:
- The number of games was (and still is) overwhelming. I could never remember if I had already tried a game or not
- There were a lot of horrible games (sometimes amusingly bad)
- There were also some really good games (including some well known classics)
- There were some games I played once, found them great and then did not find them again
- There were a lot of games I never got to run at all.
- The collections are called "Mustang" Shareware 201, 202,etc...

Here is my plan – I want to try to recall and get to know as many of these games as possible - which is daunting. So, if anyone feels bored – please help and post about your favorites and all the other good ones and bad ones.
The games exist as CD images (e.g. on the IA) and I would assume it is legal to SHARE them or download them elsewhere ?! Also anybody who can suggest similar great shareware collections – please SHARE.

So - what are your favourite Shareware titels

One of my all time classics "ASTROFIRE" It is a nice clone of the original ASTEROIDS with a few extras and great sound effects. Plays great and is a lot of fun.

Some years ago, with the help of some good folks here in Vogons, I managed to compile two collections. One with freeware and other with shareware games (all for DOS). Right now they are both on archive.org:
https://archive.org/details/gaffa-dos-shareware-pack
Each collection is meant to be burned to a CD-ROM and run directly from DOS (there is a simple installer menu for extracting each game).

Here is the list of games that were included in the shareware one (around 230 games), you can say that this list is more or less curated as I tried to add only the "good" ones, according to my personal taste, of course 😀

Oh man, I haven't played that game since 1998! It was so much fun, and I found it on a Night Owl compilation CD that my uncle gave me. When we had a lot of snow days stuck at home back in 1996/1997, I would go through that CD-ROM and look for hidden gems.

Outlaw 97 - never played this one but it was recommended already twice so I gave it a SHOT...

Its like Streetfighter in the wild west, you can even destroy the environment. I feel this is probably twice the fun with another person.

Don’t forget the fatalities:

Thats the full version, though.

Note: The video isn’t mine, it seems leileilol posted it judging by the username
