So, ive got mt 433/mx (now a 466/mx, dropped a dx2-66 in it) working. Dos 6.22 runs great, win 3.11 runs nice as well. But here's my issue. She has a s3 86c805 VLB card, with 512k memory (waiting on 4 dipps to come in next week to bump her to 1mg). Ive tried the graphics mode in 3.11 in every mode, from default 16 color, to the latest s3 win 3.11 driver i could find. No matter what I do, grey colors look tan. Ive verified the monitor (shame on me using an LCD, but it does work great, used it on every other machine) . Playing dos games, like beneath a steel sky in dos, the colors look washed out. Im looking for ideas. Anyone got anything?

Have you checked the components around the D-Sub connector? Also check the pins on the DAC for connectivity.

I did a visual today with my camera zoomed in, I didnt see any obvious damage. The caps are all SMC style, but I didnt see any leaking or obvious damage there either. Not sure how to check the pins on the DAC.

Turn on the computer and gently apply pressure on the DAC to see if it makes any change.

So applied pressure to all the chips in the region of the on-board video chipset, and no changes... other than even sitting idle with just the windows 3.11 screen up the s3 chip is running 121.2f according to my IR thermometer.. the chips in the immediate vicinity are warm as heck as well. No other chip on the board is that hot.

Check the voltage, it must be in range of 0.5 to 7V. Also add a heatsink for time being, preventing damage to the chip.
