Hi. I'm having an issue running Star Trek: Judgment Rites (CD version) with the latest D-Fend Reloaded. After configuring the profile and starting the game up (after the mount screens), it gives the following error message:

Internal error:
Can't open C:\STJRCD\uncomp/logo.anm
Game aborted...

However, the file in question is located within that folder. On a hunch, I installed the game in and ran the game through a standard DOSBOX installation I still had (without the front-end), and the game worked fine. If I import that same .conf file into D-Fend Reloaded, I get the error message again. So it leads me to believe its due to a discrepancy within the configuration files and how D-Fend reads it (and possibly due to my own error, because I'm an absolute moron when it comes to understanding mounting in DOSBOX, let alone D-Fend Reloaded)

Here's how the configuration file looks when I ran it strictly through DOSBOX (which works fine):

[autoexec]
mount C "C:\DOS"
mount D "C:\DOS\CDrive" -ioctl -t cdrom
C:
cd/
cd stjrcd
TREKJR.EXE
---------------------

Here's how the configuration file looks when its installed and runs through D-Fend Reloaded:

[autoexec]
@echo off
SET PATH=Z:\
keyb US 437 > nul
mixer MASTER 85:100 /NOSHOW
mount C "C:\DOS"
mount D "C:\DOS\CDrive" -ioctl -t cdrom
D: [my note: if I change this to C: like the other one, it still doesn't work]
cd/
cd stjrcd
TREKJR.EXE
--------------------

If anyone requires further clarification (it's confusing me just writing it), please feel free to ask. I would appreciate any help anyone would be able to provide. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Both DOSBOX's are 0.72

don't use the frontend then ?
the mount path for C is totally different. No surprise it won't work if you didn't install it twice.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Obviously. However, I use all my other DOS games through the front-end, so its a tad annoying to go through a separate route to play just one game. I understand its not a major issue.

My fault. Posted the wrong configuration file (playing around with multiple variations of the config to see if I could correct the issue); edited first post to include the original.

mount D "C:\DOS\CDrive" -ioctl -t cdrom

Doesn't make much sense.
If you got the cdrom, specify the cdrom drive as path and leave the -ioctl in.
If not and you're using a directory where you copied the files to, remove the
-ioctl and add a -label (see the readme).
If the latter doesn't work create a cue/bin pair of the cdrom.

Thanks. It's a directory where the files are copied, so I'll try the those two suggestions.

Any idea as to why it would work fine in DOSBOX, and not D-Fend Reloaded (despite using the same configuration file?). How D-Fend Reloaded interprets the config, perhaps?

Thanks again for the reply.

First try to get it working without the frontend, if that's fine you have
some target (how the mountings should look like) which makes
troubleshooting what the frontend generates easier.

Got it to work. Seems to have been an issue with how D-Fend Reloaded set up the default profile (in that it truly wasn't "default", likely an error on my part I'm sure.)

Thanks WD for taking the time to answer my noob questions and getting me on the right track.

I wish that Alexander would use the official defaults with his frontend. When I try to help people with DOSBox, I always have them start with default settings. This saves a lot of confusion and starts off with a known state for DOSBox.

Can you track down one single setting that you need to change in DFR's default profile?
Or does it have to do with cdrom mounting in general?

In his defense, it was probably a screw up on my part. Whenever creating a profile for a game, I always use a default configuration and then tweak it based on its performance. In this instance, its possible I accidentally selected another profile.

Can you track down one single setting that you need to change in DFR's default profile? Or does it have to do with cdrom mounting in general?

I'll see if I can replicate the issue, but I think this one has my fingerprints all over it.

Thanks again.
