I have a guitar, a cheap electric guitar, but I havent played in many years now.
I recently took to learning the violin, but its not going well, I dont get half as much time as I need to to learn.

That's my problem with trying to improve my playing or just practice in general.
When I was 14 I could play 3-4 hours a day with no interruptions. In my 20's I gigged a fair bit and had no worries about finding time.

These days...I'm very lucky to get a half and hour to plug in and play.

I never did gigs no nothing, I was never in that league I just enjoyed it, back then I practiced all the time, but now... Not even touched my violin since the winter.

I've been playing for 20 years and still no good, 🤣 I joke. I play ANY and ALL instruments.

I started with a $40 guitar my dad bought me off Craigslist, that came with an original Roland Cube 60 (said it was broken, wasn't). I now have an instrument collection that is not limited to guitar. The notable instruments I own include: Hammond L-x series, Lowrey DSO-1, Yamaha CP-30 (recapped this one, was fun), and a Greco EGW-80.

My dailies are a Washburn Series X and a Washburn parts-caster Bass VI.

I've never done anything professionally. I mostly play for fun or to audition my amplifiers. Need to know how to play to do that, otherwise, sh*t's breaking (learned the hard way, practiced hard after that)

Holy crap that bass vi! And is that a d-tuna bridge I see there? 😳

That's the end of the string. I had to cut the saddles for E and A to intonate correctly. The metal tubes extend the strings past the saddles, so the wound, end-part of the strings isn't on the saddles.

Ah, I see, so you used a regular scale neck for that build?

For a year now I've been eyeing those cheap bass vi knock-offs that Thomann et al. sell, to add that Cure-esque element to my band's sound. Might bite the bullet soon.

I've been playing a guitar for over 25 years but I never progressed beyond cowboy chords and some limited finger picking. I sing along and generally find it relaxing and mindful.

I started with a cheap nylon string back in the day, self taught with tablature from the internet. I've have had all sorts over the years - standard steel strings, archtops, electric, etc, but I lost interest when the kids came along and didn't own one at all for a few years. Then about a year ago my sister-in-law was doing a cleanout and came across her father's old Aria nylon string, which she passed on to me. It's just a standard classical guitar but it's decent quality, probably made in the 60's or early 70's. I cleaned it up, put on new hardware, bone nut and bridge, and the pick guard to give it some spunk.

It's easy to play and sounds OK.

I feel your pain.

That Greco is sweet. I've got an Edwards LP and it's great as well. Some of those Asian LPs are the best ever.
