Pretty much what it sounds like! The SB00730 is a real X-Fi card but it's in a half-height form factor. I actually have the box for one but the low-profile bracket was a option you could send away for, it wasn't included in the box. There's a long dead ordering link here: https://web.archive.org/web/20080615052702/ht … 5&product=16915

Unfortunately, it's a weird layout with the SPIDIF jack slightly offset of the others. I'm not really up on 3D printing or custom metal fabrication, but what would be involved in getting a modern replica of the low profile bracket if all I have is the high profile bracket? I've been keeping an eye on eBay but I've never seen one of these with the original low profile bracket come up for sale.

Buy a low profile cover bracket (as in it has no holes), then take that and the long bracket to a machine shop.

If you don't mind sacrificing the existing high-profile bracket, you could cut it and make a kludge like one eBay seller did:

I'd really like a clean one. I guess that's a bit silly though.

I even asked Creative if they had any in the back of a warehouse somewhere. They said no.

it's easy. Look how I did it. You just need to buy a laser cutting machine.

Just transfer the holes pattern to a 1 or 2 mm aluminium plate, then drill and file.
Quite easy with aluminium. Or even copper from a pipe, it's soft too.
