A bit of a thread BTT, but I remember using Corel WordPerfect and Corel Paint during the day...

lotus smartsuite had a win 3.1 version, back when freelance was a viable alternative presentation software. The early 'office' suites/applications for win 3.1 are interesting,

Vogons n00b here.

Back in the day when OS/2 vs Windows95 was the Fight of the Decade, I went to an OS/2 meet in Johannesburg. Somebody (I cannot remember who) demonstrated voice navigation with Warp 4. Then, when he was busy discussing some aspects, his screensaver kicked in, and it was Larson's The 5th Wave characters floating on the screen.

Can anybody remember if something like that was made for Windows 3.1? I may remember wrong since it was so long ago...

And yes, the retro bug have bitten me as well...

SkiFree and After Dark: Star Trek. Not that they're essential, but they are what I remember seeing on Windows 3.1 computers when I was a kid.

SkiFree (and Lunner Lander) are absolutely essential, It's 1/2 the reason I install Windows 3!

Windows 3.1 itself isn't really needed. but the GUI can be nice for file management.
Archive program of choice is probably the most important, I like Winzip simply because it's what I used when Win3.11 was my daily PC.
Some form of networking to transfer files. I like using Windows for Workgoups inbuilt file sharing but ftp is another common option.
....

Is there anything like quicklaunch or progman.exe (win311 explorer.exe) for Windows 10+11? HotDog Stand theme looks nice!, remembering flying space screensavers

Hi, the program.exe from Windows NT 3.51 may work. It's a 32-Bit version.
The 16-Bit versiom may or may not work via otdvm/ntvdm.
Otvdm is being described here: https://mendelson.org/otvdm.html

Then there's "Hot Dog Linux", which is like a fever dream.

Have fun! ^^

I think 2k or xp were the last with progman in the iso somewhere.

I built:
Convert old ASUS ASC boardviews to KICAD PCB!
Re: A comprehensive guide to install and play MechWarrior 2 on new versions on Windows.
Dos+Windows 3.11+tcp+vbe_svga auto-install iso template
Script to backup Win9x\ME drivers from a working install
Re: The thing no one asked for: KICAD 440bx reference schematic

Yes, I think it was last time functioning in XP SP1 or so.
Later in time, it was merely used to convert Program Manager groups (*.GRP) to entries in startmenu.
