Replacing the QS5244 buffer chip on the Voodoo2 Diamond Monster with a 74AS244.
This does not provide any advantages, I just did not have new QS5244.
It was necessary to slightly change the values of some resistors:
R148 75R -> 330R...360R
R153 0 R -> 33 R
axial lead resistor 221 R -> remove
Now this part of the circuit is the same as most Voodoo2

Well done! Your mod seems like much cheaper, cleaner and simpler, than BuB's 6 and 8 MB Voodoo1 memory mods.

But do these memory modifications improve something for real, except the support for bigger textures (??) or/and for 800x600 resolution, which seems too much for Voodoo1 card?

Increasing texture memory (TMU) to 4 MB in the 3DMark99 test adds 10-12%
Increasing memory in frame memory (FBI) seems useless to me.

Agreed, the hardware barely has the fillrate for 640x480, anything above that is only going to be pain.
