Hello all,
Can you even run X-Fi under Windows 98, because I have NOT been able to find a driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Nope. Audigy 4 was the last SB which have drivers for 98. But I would choose an Audigy 2 ZS over the 4.

i386 16 ⇒ i486 DX4 100 ⇒ Pentium MMX 200 ⇒ Athlon Pluto 700 ⇒ AthlonXP 1700+ ⇒ Opteron 165 ⇒ Dual Opteron 856

Audigy 4 (non-Pro) is a slightly updated Audigy 2 Value that never had Win9x driver.

Audigy 2 ZS officially supports Win9x, but with some little issues:
- VxD driver works as expected for earlier EAX games, but unlike WDM driver, digital input (S/PDIF) is missing in mixer.
- WDM/VxD driver seem to replace system files with newer versions, which breaks compatibility of some applications. For example, Aureal's A3D demos throw an error after installing Creative driver (but reinstalling A3D demos solves this issue).

Anyway, Audigy 2 ZS is a superb sound card, but it felt like the Win9x support was partially nerfed.
In previous model Audigy 2 (non-ZS) one the same E-MU chip, digital input worked on VxD driver.
