Hello!

I have a few SCSI boxes with Centronics 50p connectors but I don't have any cables and don't know how to create new ones.
After some time looking up for nay guide I couldn't find any.
Connectors are everywhere and cheap, so why not making them instead of spending the $$$ that is ridiculously asked for.

My help request is pretty basic, where can I find good guides?
I remember watching and/or reading about it, that is for sure, but still can't locate it on the nets.

There are terminators, again, how to?
Adapters?

What should I look for the 50 pin cable? Is there a specific brand, name, model...?

Sorry for the noobness.

Thanks for any help!

anything SCSI using a 50p centronics connector won't be that fast, 5MHz, maybe 10 tops, so. any 50p centronics crimp on connector and some 50p flatcable will do just fine.
an ebay search gave me this "5-Pack Centronics 50-Pin IDC Type Male CN50 Crimp Connector for Ribbon Cable" for $20 and 20 ft of 50p IDC 2.54 flatcable for $32

Terminators for those old devices... that's just the correct resistor packs on the correct pins. 8 data pins and 5 or 6 signal pins I think, https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/Bourns … SkSx27ilw%3D%3D , also connected to termpower & ground.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

Ok, but 50 to 25 dsub is possible? I don't have a centronics 50p SCSI card.
Making a 50-to-25 would solve many issues.

I want to feel the slow desperation of centronics 😀
Also, it's easier to just plug an external unit in for tests.

Thanks

Be aware of cable/bus lengths and minimum distance between connectors.

I read that but after posting.
I'd like to make like 1m max length. One box on top of the other, or a box on top of the pc case.
Something like the Zip drives came with.

Nothing fancy. Stuff is still sold but it costs a lot.
