I bought this motherboard for a retro build and currently I'm using it with a Celeron @ 333 MHz. I've read the user manual for this board and it mentions support for the Pentium II processor as well, however it doesn't mention Pentium III.

It features an Intel 440BX chipset, so I think in theory it does support at least some kind of Pentium III processors. I believe it doesn't state it explicitly because the board/manual is from 1999, just when the CPU was coming out as well and therefore wasn't popular like the Pentium II.

What do you think?

Yeah, I guess it makes sense, as long as it's a slot 1 Pentium III. That said, I might try to upgrade to a Pentium II, which was the only CPU from this era that I never owned.

Tbh in this case I'm sceptical.

TRW says P3 Katmai and Coppermine, but the motherboard manual states VRM8.2, which normally doesn't support under 1.8V. I'd say this would be a fine board for Katmai, but Coppermine would only work with slocket with jumpers to force 1.8V.

3 ISA slot motherboards usually don't support Coppermine. Not a big tragedy as 600Mhz Katmai isn't too bad.

Some do (like the Wintech W6BXA), but yes, it is an uncommon combination. Usually depends on the vrm controller, but it seems a lot of boards (like the OP's PCPartner) don't even have a vrm controller in the place you'd normally find one. I posted a bit about these in this thread for those interested. Not sure if there's another similar IC on these boards that would reveal whether it could support under 1.8v CPUs.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.
