I want to connect old HDD to newer motherboard that have PCIe x1 slots.

I have a SATA-IDE converter, bi-directional Gembird on the JM20330 chip but I noticed that it is crash with a large transfer of data from/to the disk - suddenly the power LED goes out and various read/write errors appear in the system:

The attachment gembird.jpeg is no longer available

I am looking for something on PCIe which also works in DOS and does not need drivers in the operating system.

Just buy any JMB363 card that has an EEPROM. You might need CSM in your BIOS for that to work though.
