yo all.
1) I have a problem with joystick in Wind Commander IV The Price Of Freedom under Windows XP. Without VDMSound it isn't detected at all, with vdmsound the joystick is detected but it doesn't work. I checked the gamport and it's ok and the joystick also work ok, but only in windows.
I tried both Logitech Wingman Extreme and Interact Programpad, and they both aren't workin with WC IV.

2) how to make sound sound (;-) better in WC IV. It is constantly breakin. I have sound blaster live value. which card emulation is the best one for sb live?

Any particular reason you're not running the Windows 95 version? If your version didn't come with the Windows executable, you can download the "upgrade" at the Wing Commander CIC site:

They also have a joystick "update", which I think is only for certain people who have problems with the Win9x version.

Hard to say with this little data and my CD presently missing. I'm presuming that you're describing your card running out of resources to play audio (plays normal, then develops lag, increasing in lag as time goes by...).

Hopefully, you can get the Windows executable running.

didn't knew about the patch. thanks mate! now's everything running well - joy's workin' and sound's good too.

Well that's good to know. That's two people able to run the windows version on XP that I've heard of...
