My Dirty Combat Flight Simulator 2 Cockpit:

A few photos of my Combat Flight Simulator 2 cockpit. Yeah, I KNOW... that desk, cockpit, and quite old peripherals are DUSTY, but so were all of those planes on all of those muddy and dusty dirt airstrips in the Pacific back in World War II!

P.S. I use the left joystick for the old DOS game "Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri", I don't use it in Combat Flight Simulator 2 (or Flight Simulator 2000 Professional Edition).

Nice!

But really... the dust! I don't want to think about how the inside of your PC is.

BTW, I don't know if you still play EGATrek, but that document in the picture is NOT part of the game's included documentation.

I made up that chart simply because the compass headings in the game seem to be screwball to me (0 degrees is right/east, 90 degrees is up/north, etc...). The old games "Star Fleet I: The War Begins!" and "Star Fleet II - Krellan Commander" ALSO use this weird headings system, so I use that chart for those games as well.

Anyhow, attached is the chart if you want it 😀

Love CFS2 - in fact always been a big fan of flight sims.

Re: Found old MS flight sim - single 720k 3.5" diskette - 1987

That's quite a collection that you have there! I myself have FS4 (and *ALL* of the retail add-ons for it), FS5, FS95, FS98, and FS2000 Pro which I still fly today 😀

Of notable interest, I also have Tracon, ATC for DOS and Windows, as well as Bao Tower.

Just in case you didn't read the whole thread...

One not listed is the one I started the thread on. Found the first one I ever got ... I thought it might be the first MS flight sim.
Turns out its v3.0 - on a single 720k floppy disk - all files are 1988, manual is cpyright 1987.

Bit of history (for me)

Yeah, 3.0 was released in 1988. Versions 1.0 and 2.0 were released in 1982 and 1984 respectively, and were both self-booters.

Huh, you can use a joystick in Terra Nova? I just keyboard+mouse.

Yep, I use the joystick in my left hand for movement (with the buttons to send squadmate commands and other miscellaneous functions, and to rotate the torso of the PBA using the coolie/POV hat; and the twist rudder for strafing), and the mouse in my right hand for the usual aiming, firing, clicking buttons.
