Im looking for some help to get that Playstation Sound Development Tool working.
First at all some explanation.
The DTL-H800 is a rare Development board also called the "Sound Artist Tool" that was produced in the late lifetime of the PS1 to give Sound Developer a platform for better Sound development on the Playstation. For example, it let you upload soundbanks and play it over midi. The PCB itself has a optical output.
There was a predecessor the DTL-H700 that was a MAC only card. With the H800 sony switched to PCI. The Driver package is including a MAC and a Windows Driver.
I have a Powermac with PCI where i was able to get the card up and running with some early PS2 SDK tools.
When it comes to windows i never get the Driver working.
What i tryed is win98SE where the card show up after install, but never take the driver package to install it correctly.

So atm im looking for someone with knowledge about Windows Driver development (DDK).
I add here the driver files i have. Question is, can someone tell me for what OS that driver was written? Or why win98SE dont like the driver?
As i sayed before the card is tested and working on mac OS9.2. So there is no hardware problem. And i tryed many hours testing IRQs and bios without luck. Im pretty sure its a windows driver Problem.

My goal is to get the driver installed and try using that piece of history with some DAW on a windows setup.
I did some research and find out that someone from UK, a Sony dev wrote that driver. I tryed reach him over social media but never got a answer..

Hardware setup:
Asus P2B + PentiumII 350MHz + 256MB Ram + Matrox Dual Head AGP + PCI Sata Controller

From the text files:
"PCI_SND is 'Windows' PC program which previews VAB sound files on the PCI Sound Artist under windows95."
"The VXD driver file for the PCI sound artist card must go into the windows/system directory."

You need to try on Windows 95 if you haven't yet.

I did a clean install of Win95 R2 but the driver still not taken by the OS. I tryed copy the two files into the system folder.
When i point on the driver folder or system in the device manager there is no file that can be used.

edit: found another .INF with that i was able to setup the card!

Does it need the card to be properly recognized in the device manager for the pci_snd.exe program to work?

Yes. On a PS1 Devkit you can't access the SPU directly. But the H800 mounted with the driver and acting like a soundcard. Youhave for example directly access with a sequencer over midi. But this needs the driver loaded and a DAW that handle the midi.
ATM I'm waiting for a M-audio Delta1010. Hope proTools will do the job. I checked the driver for the M-audio card and it has win95 support. So hopefully..
