X800 agp and Windows 98se issues

Hi there

I wanted to give my machine a littke Update but i am stuck right now installing drivers for this GPU: Radeon x800pro / gto 256mb

I swapt Out my gf4 ti 4200 and did a Clean fresh new Install of win98se

Now, when attempt to Install latest catalyst 6.2 drivers manuall, reboot i get an Error Massage theres a Problem with my GPU. It recognized as IT should (x800 primary ans secondary). Installing ccc also works finse, reboot and Same Massage. I am Not able to Change anything Resolution. I have both Adapters marked with a yellow sign. Tried older Version but Same.

Any clue?

Yellow exclamation mark means resource problem. What does it say when you open the properties of the card in the device manager and click the Resources tab?

Even if there are no conflicts, did it assign any resources to it?
In the display properties, can you choose 256 colors and reboot?

No i cannot select any color depth.
How do i See assignt ressources?

Mainboard is a Asus P5P800

Thank you for the screenshots. I said that because there's a bug where the graphics card driver isn't loaded and the card runs in VGA mode. It can then be enabled by switching to 256 colors. But that's not going to work here.

When you said you installed the driver manually, do you mean using the device manager and then pointing it to the .inf file? What happens when you install the driver using the ATI installer?

Alright.....fresh XP Install on same system without any Problems. GPU Runs nicely. No issues even 1080p 100hz. Used Last Omega Driver.

I see that as good news as that leaves a driver issue. I have an Asus P4P 800 (also an Intel 865 chipset) that I have installed Win98SE on, but I don't think I ever tried an ATI card with that board while I had it set up with Win98. Possibly an issue with the chipset drivers used? I noticed that the Asus page for your board doesn't include chipset drivers for Win98SE, but they have them for my P4P800: https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/p4p800/he … pdesk_download/

May i have to Install the Chipset drivers? I asked this way cause i am using win98 quick Install fully Patches with integrated drivers. Maybe this is the issue? Do you have a "best way" for me with some axplainations?
