Hi All!
Can anybody explain real difference between 9831CE and 9832CE revisions of VT82C598MVP?
Have two MB on these revisions and they behave completely differently with AGP videocards.

Have two MB on these revisions and they behave completely differently with AGP videocards.
Are they the same brand and model, just different revisions?
After watching many YouTube videos about older computer hardware, YouTube began recommending videos about trains - are they trying to tell me something?
Do they show different revision numbers in PCI configuration space? That could be another lead.

I am not sure it helps your situation, but a typical VIA IC starts with "CD" as its first release (non-ES) silicon, and increments the first alphabet digit for a newer revision (i.e., CD, CE, CF, CG, etc.).
Most VIA ICs do not go past CE, typically.
VT82C496G and VT82C42N do have revision CF.
As part of a VIA VT5228C replica project (Apollo Pro133A based Slot 1 mATX mainboard), I deal with VT82C686A "Super South" south bridge chip.
This chip has 4 revisions, but CD / CE and CF / CG have slightly different pin outs.
The CF and CG revisions have very similar pin outs, but the CG revision activates an integrated IO APIC.
My guess is that VIA could not get the IO APIC quite right with CF revision, but it felt comfortable activating with CG revision.
I have both revisions on hand as unused chips, but since the mainboard I am working on is a uni-processor board, I plan to use the CF revision since I want to use it up before switching to the CG revision.
I bought VT82C686A from a US based eBay seller (a professional NOS distributor) and a China (Shenzen) based AliExpress seller earlier part of this year.
I got CG revision from a US based seller and CF revision from a China based seller.
I also got 2004 manufactured unused Apollo MVP3 on hand as well (revision CE), but will work on designing an original mainboard with this chip after I design a few other mainboards since I do not have a design guide for the MVP3 chipset.

My mobos are different, but both based on the same MVP3 chipset (only one week difference between dates of NB production). One of them works with all my AGP cards without any problems, even i740 stand as rock in Q2. But another board very selective to the video, most of cards (tested Rage Pro, ZX, TNT, Savage4, i740, M64) can stuck the system in any 3D application, graceful finish of 3D Mark 99 test is a rare event. Why?

I have no problems with Rage Pro and Rage XL with MVP3 board, works well. Need to use correct drivers i think and maybe MVP3 boards are different.
I had also this hangs, not any more. I can share my working package for MVP3 and i advice all Rage Pro and Rage XL users do use my Rage drivers also.
Still the best cards are Geforece2 MX and Geforce3 for MVP3 and also Rage128 Pro is good.

The version of the Via 4 in 1 drivers is very important. I recently had pretty good luck with 4in1443v.exe.
Maybe I’m being superstitious, but I think the driver installation order is important too.
1) install windows
2) install the 4 in 1
3) install the video driver
Trying to upgrade the 4-1 driver in place often lead to stability issues. So does installing the vga driver before the 4 in 1.
It’s also possible that the one board has capacitors that still function above the minimum requirements and the other board has capacitors that no longer function above minimum requirements necessary for the cards to work at the power draws used when the cards are in 3d mode
