It seems that there's a new DOSBox fork in town. It's called DOSBox Pure Unleashed and it's a stand-alone version of DOSBox Pure, a libretro core for RetroArch.

Just mentioning for those interested. I don't think integration with DBGL is either possible or advisable, considering it already comes with its own GUI.
