I recently aquired 2 of these 3.5" floppy drives but cant find anything about them....like they never existed ?
They do have conventional 34 pin connectors at the rear and a seperate berg connector for power.
what they dont have are density switches on the right viewed from the front...so can only conclude these are both 720k drives dsdd.
no idea what computer ther were once in ?
any ideas guys ?
There is a small slide switch located almost underneath the stepper motor ...labelled DSSW.
maybe df0/df1 switchable.
I can post a photo if it helps..but any info would be very welcome indeed.
rarities maybe ?
were they intended for early PC ....maybe ????

Do they have normal PC front panel?

720 KB drives never got popular in the PC genre, but they did exist in certain compact/portable XT-class machines, eg.:
- IBM Convertible
- IBM PS/2 Model 25
- IBM PS/2 Model 30

I put my Slot 1 Pentium 2 into an RGB case, actually turned out really good. I'm thinking about another project now where I light up the motherboard more to show off the awesomeness of SLot 1, my fav Era of computers

Many thanks for the replies guys...
Yes indeed they are the same height and shape as conventional 3 1/2 floppy drives.
..but lack the switches on the pcb for detecting density of inserted disks..
I'm attaching some photos.
I'm curious to find out who/what computer manufacturer would have used them.

..as an afterthought....could they have been used in test equipment...or synthesizer/keyboards perhaps ?
