I wonder if it's just a lack of effort on my part these days - I used to go looking for new music and try different genres. These days I can't be bothered trying to find the diamonds in the rough but I suspect that there's still a lot of great new music out there, it's just not making it to mainstream radio, etc.

Yeah its modern crap dressed up to sound like something worth listening to from the 90s. Its pretty common these days.
You take an old sound and add new ideas to it and call it great because it has a 90s sound. The lyrics give them away every time.
