Is anyone using a build with more video memory than system memory? I'm curious to hear about what you are running and why.

Unless I am testing a motherboard with one of the many FX5500-256mb I do not use such a combination.
I did run a win 98 machine with 128mb ram with a geforce 6600gt 256mb.
Did not encounter any issues... That gpu was hugely overkill for that pc.
You do need to keep in mind that some games will be bottlenecked as some cpu s and the ram will not keep up with the gpu. That is offcourse very dependent on the system configuration.
A normal MSX2 computer typically has 64 KB of RAM and 128 KB of Video RAM 😉
Had this Quadro K1200 arrive in the mail, and, just to make sure it wasn't DOA I put it into a random WinXP box that was sitting on the workbench, with 2GB sys ram and a lesser Maxwell card in it and the drivers conveniently already installed. Toyed with it for a bit then went back to a more sensible card. I can't think of a good reason to intentionally plan such a build tho, at least when it comes to older systems. Thinking more modern, maybe it might make sense for an AI inference system, where you only need a small-ish amount of system RAM for the OS, but as much friggin GPU mem as you can get?
